With a large fleet of trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment, we're seeking an experienced Lead Fleet Mechanic to keep our operation running at peak performance.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a highly skilled mechanic who enjoys diagnosing complex issues, performing major repairs, and taking ownership of fleet reliability. You'll also have the opportunity to perform New York State vehicle inspections once our facility becomes a licensed inspection station.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a diverse fleet of gasoline and diesel vehicles, trailers, small engines, and landscaping/construction equipment. 
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and drivetrain issues using advanced diagnostic equipment and OEM software. 
  • Complete major repairs including engine rebuilds, transmission repairs, hydraulic system overhauls, and component replacements. 
  • Respond to emergency field repairs and job-site breakdowns during peak operating seasons. 
  • Prioritize multiple repair requests while minimizing equipment downtime. 
  • Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and parts inventory. 
  • Perform (or prepare to perform) New York State annual safety and emissions inspections once the company becomes a licensed inspection station. 
  • Work independently while coordinating closely with operations and field teams to keep equipment running safely and efficiently. 
Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a fleet, diesel, automotive, heavy equipment, or machinery mechanic. 
  • Strong experience servicing both gasoline and diesel engines. 
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills involving electrical systems, hydraulics, drivetrains, and engine diagnostics. 
  • Experience using scan tools, multimeters, pressure gauges, and diagnostic software. 
  • New York State Motor Vehicle Inspector Certification (Group 1/Safety Inspector) preferred, or willingness to obtain (company will support certification). 
  • ASE Certifications are a plus. 
  • Willingness to work overtime and respond to emergency repairs during peak seasons.

Compensation: $40.00 - $55.00 per hour
